Wireless is also very common. 802.11 allows laptops to use the network to access the network and move around. 802.11 also is used extensively in warehouse management software (WMS). The advantage is that the forklifts can utilize software to manage where inventory should go in the warehouse without needing to slow down to do so. In this role the advantage is in having reliable network equipment. If the hardware of the system dies then the entire thing stops. Therefore many firms install double the equipment and wire everything to everything. The idea if something fails it doesn't get sick so that the networking hardware can recognize the failure and operate without the other failed equipment. The caveat is that a downed device must be repaired before another failure happens despite no apparent issues affecting users.

Network Address Translation(NAT) is useful on today's networks. The goal is to simply change one IP address to a different address. This is helpful for example if the untrusted mobile wireless laptops all are on a non-public subnet but have to get to the internet through a gateway that perform the NAT .

A 802.11 printer server can be very helpful to the person who needs to print on a WLAN. The goal is that the print server helps the user print to the printer without cables. All printers need this feature to get print requests directly from laptop without a cable.

Cisco based in CA United States of America that makes excellent routing and switching hardware. Actually they are the largest manufacturer of network equipment in the world. Cisco control most of the network equipment market overall. Training with this equipment is thus quite common.
